The Rising Star Award
This award is presented to an employee of ABS that has been in the division three (3) years or less whose accomplishments distinguish them as possible future leaders in their career field.
Criteria:
Nominations will be evaluated on criteria that include but not limited to their demonstration of innovation, professionalism, and leadership qualities; their actions representing the Virginia Tech motto "Ut Prosim"; and their dedication to the mission and values of the division and the university.
Eligibility:
Employee must be in good standing with no personnel issues. This award is presented to an employee of ABS that has been in the division three (3) years or less. Individual employees are only eligible to be the recipient of any division award (except the Positively HOKIE award) once every three years
Award Process:
Communication will be sent out annually to open the nomination period, with due dates listed for nominations. Once nominations are received, the ABS Chief of Staff and ABS HR Manager will screen the nominations first for compliance with the award parameters, then for good standing before being brought before an ad-hoc committee led by the Chief of Staff, established by the Vice President. The proposed winner will only then be proposed to the Vice President to determine the winner of the award.
Award:
$500, engraved Hokie stone, and 8 hours of leave.
