James Perkins

James Perkins is a key member of the division’s leadership team. He is the principle aide, advisor, and analyst to the Vice President, serving as an essential operational and strategic liaison with constituents and providing leadership for initiatives, special projects and communications with institution-wide impact. His responsibilities also include overseeing the human resources, communications, and administrative support units.

Perkins earned a bachelor’s degree in history from Virginia Tech in 1992, where he was also a member of the Corps of Cadets and the Highty-Tighties. Prior to returning to Virginia Tech, he was the Executive Director of University Services at Radford University, where he served for 26 years.
